Each time you send a partnership request, the connection invitation is sent to the member. And when you receive a partnership request, you also receive an invitaion to connect.
To see all your connections (members you are connected to), click on "Connections" in the right-hand box. Received invitations can be either accepted by clicking on the green "Connect" button or ignored. You may even accept a previously ignored invitation (click on "Show ignored" link).
Your profile information is visible to the members you are connected to, including email address, social network profiles and updates. Your connections also see your updates on their Dashboard activity wall. You may send private messages to your connections.
Never spam connections with repeated offers. If they remove you from their connections you will never be able to contact them again.
To remove a member from your connections, click on the "Remove" link in the list of connections.
